The Fairway Ledger is a personal tracker for America's 100 Greatest Golf Courses. This page explains exactly what data the app collects, why, and how you can delete it.

If you use Guest Mode

Nothing leaves your device. Your progress (which courses you've played, notes, dates, tees, scores) is stored only in your device's local storage. We never see it, and it is not backed up anywhere — uninstalling the app or clearing your device's storage deletes it permanently.

If you create an account

Creating an account lets your progress follow you across devices. We use Firebase (a Google service) for this. Specifically:

Email and password — used only to authenticate you. We use Firebase Authentication; we do not see or store your password ourselves.
Your ledger data — which courses you've marked played/pending, plus any dates, tees, scores, and notes you enter — is stored in our Firestore database, associated with your account. This data is private by default.

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time, directly in the app: open the menu next to your email address and choose Delete account. This permanently removes your ledger data, your leaderboard entry (if you joined one), and your account — there is no recovery after this.

If you make your ledger public (optional)

The Share feature lets you turn on a public, read-only link to your ledger. If you turn this on, anyone with the link can see your course progress, notes, dates, tees, and scores, along with the display name you choose. This is off by default and fully within your control — turn it off any time from the Share menu.

If you join the public leaderboard (optional)

You can optionally opt in to a public leaderboard, visible to anyone who opens the app (including people who haven't signed in). If you opt in, we show your chosen display name and your total courses-played count. We do not show notes, scores, tees, or dates on the leaderboard. This is off by default — turn it on or off any time from the Share menu.

Location (optional)

The "Find courses near me" feature asks for your device's location only when you tap it. Your location is used entirely on your device to sort the course list by distance — it is never sent to us or stored anywhere. You can decline the permission and the rest of the app works normally.

What we don't do

We don't run ads or ad tracking.
We don't use third-party analytics SDKs.
We don't sell or share your data with anyone.

Third-party services this app relies on

Firebase (Google) — authentication and database hosting.
OpenStreetMap — map tiles on the Map tab.
Google Fonts — typefaces used in the app's design.
